It's all about the Pudds, my friends... it's all about the pudds.

Well, there was a recent downpour of H20 here in L-town (Though actually some was H30 because of an excess of Hydrogen, which gives that storm smell that we all love... but that's unimportant.).  The night before, there was an abysmal storm, where Treaster's back windshield was knocked out, and the power went out all over Lawrence... it wasn't so much pleasant.  However, tonight was a good little rainfall/drizzle.  Paul and I decided we wanted to feel jubilent and go play it.  We did.  I am happy to report that playing in the rain is even more fun than I remember.  The random drops that give you chills down your spine... the overwhelming cumulonimbus clouds towering above, releasing their thunderous roar and illuminating with the intermittent flashes of lightening... the scent of all wildlife mixed with the spring smell of rain... and most of all, the puddles!  Paul and I decided we wanted to venture up to Perkins, which is just a block away from us.  On our way, we searched for the most glorious puddle, testing ones as we came upon them - jumping feet first into them, and splashing around in an attempt to capture the true joy of the puddle.  We found one!  Our puddle expedition was completed, and it was definitely worth the chilling quest.  I'm looking forward to the next cloud-cry, where I can once again rejoice in its tears.

Ten Frames to Strike up a Monday evening.

Tonight was a pretty cool night.  My friends, Lauren and Deanne Stofferahn, invited Paul and me to go bowling with them for a buck per game.  Well - of course, you can't pass that up!  So Paul and I gladly accepted the invitation.  We paid for four games, but Paul and I were having so much fun that we had to purchase a fifth.  I was pretty pleased with a couple of my scores, and the rest were alright.  Game 1 - 125;  Game 2 - 149;  Game 3 - 159;  Game 4 - 137;  Game 5 - 187.  It was an awesome time, and I recommend giving it a shot if you like to bowl - it's only the coolest game you can play on a lane.

I have lots more to write about - but not the time... this'll do for now.

Serious Entry

Well, Jesus Christ Superstar has been going on.  The show looks pretty good, but I guess I never fully realized the beauty of the production until last night's performance.

One of my good friends from a previous show ("A Little Night Music"), Jan - an elderly woman who played the role of the grandma in the past musical, came to see the show.  Throughout the full duration of the production her hands were held closely against her chest and her eyes gifted a small depiction of how captivated she was with the powerful production.  It was truly a genuine joy to watch her cling on to every note and feel her heart warm with the beauty of this miracle show.

After the show, I was, of course, more than happy to see this amazing woman.  As I walked over there, her eyes flooded with tears, and her hand covered her mouth as if to say her emotions would never be comparable to the feelings she was experiencing.  I hurried to her and gave her the greatest hug I could ever offer.  I felt her body shaking in my arms, and the sound of her breath was scattered breathing was inevitably sincere.  She couldn't even find the words to describe how proud she was of me as her friend and as a performer, and ever moreso - the entire "beautiful production."

When I asked her how she's been, she goes on to tell me she has been very, very sick.  Not fully understanding the severety of the situation, I tell her her to contact me if I can help in any way.  As she greets fellow cast members her friend proceeds to tell me the true unfortunate condition of Jan.  At this point, time has become an issue in her life, whereas it never was before.  My heart hurt after that one.  Her friend continues - Jan has been in bed for nearly a week now, and she found the strength within herself to get up, get here, and watch you play this role she says you were born to play.  The friend goes on to say she has never seen Jan as happy or as touched by any person, thing, or performance as she was tonight.  She saw Jan looking up as if she was praying to God, thanking him "for letting her lead such a beautiful life," and it warmed her heart.  Last night, our production made Jan's night, week, and good part of her life.

This, my friends, is why I do theatre.  This is why I do theatre.
